No image of the day today. It's time to get straight to...Links from Others! Thanks, everyone.

From Zazoo: "It's just been proven that a Swiss woman can taste music notes." Synaethesia is so weird.

From Daniel: "You knew it was a matter of time. Hello Kitty continues to proves she reigns the world. You also know you want one. Now."

From the Sparkle Queen: Rapture Letters. Eeeeek. The mind boggles.

From various weblogs this week: a super-nifty voodoo knife holder. How cool is this?

Also from weblogs: WWII photos in color. It's strange what a difference color can make. Which takes us right back to synaethesia, in a weird sort of way.

Have a spiffy weekend, everyone. See you Monday.

DJ Satori, momentarily overcome by sheer color.

I'm in love with RSS and Bloglines these days, but haven't ventured very far into the world of social bookmarking. Anyone familiar with Furl and/or del.icio.us?

The Wikipedia debate continues. Fortunately, many librarians have a sense of humor about the whole thing.

Did you know Google has a tiny annex dedicated to searching only sites with .gov domains? It's true! It's been on the web since 1999, but with no fanfare whatsoever.

Academic librarians are fighting amongst themselves over who deserves Ph.D.s more, and it's getting pretty nasty. And I thought the debate on the value of having an MLS degree was fierce.

Beatrix reviews book reviewers, in a way, which could be a big help to collection development librarians (as well as other book-oriented people).

And finally...why not build your own Chicago out of postcard material? It'll be interesting to see if other cities join in here.

Tomorrow: links from others!

This is one of my favorite pix from Dawn's Madonna party last weekend.

England is featuring a literary festival this week with one of the best names ever. Get thee to Spit Lit! Stat!

Speaking of the British, the curse of King Tut is apparently alive and well and bothering people all over the world. And it's all Howard Carter's fault.

Speaking of mummies, imagine Ed Wood filming The Day the Mummies Moved. Hee.

Speaking of horror films, why not join the Bunny (or other mutilated stuffed creature) of the Month Club? I especially like the suggestion that you have these sent to your work address.

Speaking of...um...okay, I don't know how to tie in Frankensteinian stuffed animals and the dark history of arsenic. I'm sure there's a segue out there, though.

Yesterday's Frazz strip is a beautiful thing. I wonder if they'd let me use it as a banner!

I'm still catching up from last week, so today is a bit of a mishmash. However! I found one of the best weblogs ever -- Comics Curmudgeon, which psychoanalyzes the banal and the melodramatic strips that pepper the papers these days.

I also discovered safety spoons which turn white when the food or drink they're in is too hot. They're marketed for babies, but I can think of some adults who would find these useful too.

If you remember the "shopping for others" scene from Pecker, you will love the new fad of playing games in the middle of the night at Wal-Mart. This is better than the "Spot the Weirdest Outfit" or the "How Fast Can We Get Out of Here" contests we usually play at Wal-Mart.

The winner of this week's contest for Words You Never Thought You'd See in the Same Sentence: here's a lamp of Boy George dressed like Leigh Bowery from William Gibson's weblog. (Yes, THAT William Gibson.)

And in conclusion, just how well do you know your presidents? How well do you know your presidents' HAIR? Take the quiz and find out! I only got 3 out of 7. The game is different each time, so your score may vary wildly.

Chirpa says he cannot understand why no one finds him adorable enough to adopt. I agree!

Sorry for the no-show on Friday. To make up for it, we're having a special bonus edition of Links from Others Day. Thanks, everyone!

From Daniel:

From Holly:

From Zazoo: The story of the giant kitschy female statue who resides in a backyard.

From Bunny: Bible-thumping goth dolls! You know you want one!

Thanks again, everyone!
