Friday, August 13, 2004From Satori: the Fraggle Rock DVDs are out! From Glenna: why work? From Holly: attention pilots, beware of cats in the cockpit. From the Sparkle Queen: "On Saturday night, there will be a benefit concert at the Blue Note [in Cincinnati]. It’s in memory of Cincinnati bassist Ron Harden, and it will benefit the Brain Tumor Society." Go out and support a good cause! From Paul: oooh, freaky. From me: go out and sing some anti-war, anti-Bush songs this weekend! Also from me: whoa, there's a name for that freaky way I can see faces in pretty much anything and everything. It's called pareidolia (every time I read that, I think of Max Headroom and the Art of Noise's "Paranomia"). Fortunately, I do not see visages of holy beings, which is apparently a common side effect of such brain wiring issues. (If I ever tell you that I saw Jesus or Mary in a tortilla, please smack me. Hard. Maybe it'll shake something back into place.) Have a good weekend, everyone (and to our reader(s) in Florida, be safe). See you Monday!
Thursday, August 12, 2004SEE! The Olympics through the eyes of a journalist on assignment! GASP! at the high amount of accidents at amusement parks! REACT! at the government's attempts to censor information! YAWN! as you discover the wait time at your airport! (And beware, unwary travelers! Cincinnati's airport is listed under Kentucky!) TREMBLE! at the disturbing music at the nevertheless stunning Musee Mechanique site! GAG! at the award-winning recipes for SPAM in state fairs! ANTICIPATE! tomorrow's links from others! Come one, come all!
Wednesday, August 11, 2004This is yet another strong argument for eloping. Both the above links come to you courtesy of Daniel. In his honor, I bring you the Malmo Festival, going on all this week in Sweden! Also this week: Ekka in Australia, Elvis in America, and the One World Camp in the UK. Yep, it's festival season. Have at it!
Tuesday, August 10, 2004*Are you red or blue? (I was smack dab in the middle. The Midwest is the center of everything, I'm telling you.) *Is your town red or blue? My street is bluer than I thought. (You can expand this to other towns; this is just the local viewpoint.) *News on "Dick und Doof" from Gene Henceforth! *The world of Piki and Poko says hello! (I am particularly partial to Poko.) *Gold, silver or bronze? Okay, that's not very binary, I admit. But the Olympics start on Friday! Expect much Olympic geekiness in the coming days!
