I will have a big catch-up entry on Monday that's chock-full of links. For today, my last day of election mourning, I give you the cover of the Boston Phoenix (which echoes my current pessimistic thinking) and also a map of the U.S. which shows that while our country may be divided, it's not nearly so bleak as the pundits make it sound. (That's for the optimist in me, which will be back next week.)

Have a good weekend, everyone. See you Monday.

Also from the Sparkle Queen (who has been indirectly keeping my spirits up the last few days): trying to convert lions to Christianity is not a very bright idea. (Video clip included!)

Although maybe we should start spreading the word amongst fundamentalist Christians...

P.S.

Armbands, anyone?

Well. That sucked. I am officially mad at the world, and Folderol is taking the rest of the week off.

(I'll be perkier next week. Promise.)

Okay, I am too antsy to update. Blame the politicians.

However! Many many thanks to the Sparkle Queen, who reminded me that today is Hello Kitty's 30th birthday. I think this means that Hello Kitty is an official member of Generation X. Fortunately, most of my generation has a mouth.

VOTE. VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE. Preferably for these guys.

Bunny and I went at 7:30 a.m. and the place was PACKED. I was the 92nd voter in my precinct, and there were three precincts voting at this particular spot.

Also, as an FYI for Cincinnati locals, I had a minor meltdown when Issue 3 was not listed on my ballot. Burning with righteous fury, I went over to a poll volunteer...and found out that apparently we live just over the border of the city limits, and so Issue 3 was not on our ballot. (Bunny pointed out that Issue 3 may fare better with downtown voters than with suburbanites. I am now filled with righteous fury at the thought that I somehow live in the suburbs.)

Anyway. Go vote. NOW! I'll be back later with links.

Happy November, everyone! For many writers out there, it's the beginning of NaNoWriMo, aka National Novel Writing Month. Good luck to all!

And, of course, it's almost Election Day. Have you noticed? For an outside perspective on the madness, check out the BBC's election weblog. If you're interested in following the results of the "e-voting" technology, there's a list of the participating states and counties out there for the tracking.

Other burning issues of the day abound, of course...like lip synching. The horror! The horror!

Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion is, um, coming to the silver screen. Yeah. I don't know quite what to make of that.

Remember how Mozart might have had Tourette's? Now he's back in the news again...or rather, his skull is. Mozart gets an awful lot of press these days. I bet pop stars are jealous.

Do you spend more money on books than on food? If the answer is yes, I would tell you to go to a library and stop the madness. But ifyou're a fellow book collector , you would probably applaud such dedication.

And finally, something random: miniature metal creations!
