Twenty inches of snow later...we're stuck at home. Whee! This unexpected day off may result in a later update. Have fun and be safe, everyone!

Today both the Graveworm and I are stuck in our respective offices, watching the snow pile up in our respective cities, and emailing each other random notes. So here's a bunch of links for you, 'Worm. (If anyone else wants to send some fun email, I may tailor an entry just for you as well!)

First off, a holiday news flash: it is still not too late to buy a remote-control UFO to freak out the Art Bell listener in your life!

It's also not too late to register for the Vatican's new course on exorcism and demonology. (Personally, I think this would be a really cool class. I suppose that's not exactly the response they want from their students.)

The winners of the Undead Art competition have been announced. Grrr. Arrrgh. Brains!

So I read The DaVinci Code (my quick review: a fun read, but nothing too amazing) and thought it borrowed huge pieces of Holy Blood, Holy Grail. And what do you know, the authors of HBHG thought so as well. And they are not amused.

The Thing says, "Happy Hanukkah! What, you didn't know I was Jewish? That's it, it's clobberin' time!"

So, I took the "how [insert astrological sign] are you?" quiz, and found out what everyone else already knows: I am not much of a Capricorn. 47 percent, to be exact. However, I am much more of an Aquarius (73 percent), which is my rising sign. Bunny, on the other hand, is still most definitely a Capricorn. Have fun!

And finally, if you don't believe in new agey crap like astrology, perhaps you'd prefer the Museum of Creation and Earth History. Er. Yeah. Have fun explaining those dinosaur bones, you wacky creationists.

There will probably be an update tomorrow, and then a holiday break till Monday. See you soon!

Storm the grocery stores! Trample the senior citizens! It's going to snow six inches in Cincinnati tomorrow! Aieeee! Heh. Fortunately, we are not going anywhere for the holidays. If you are, though, you can check out this handy traffic information site to see which highways are closed and how many accidents you may have to witness.

Of course, if you had a weather toaster, you would know the forecast already. (I would kill to have a toaster like this. Wouldn't it be fantastic?)

And, in a virtual land, the skies are purple all day long. Maybe. I guess if it's virtual, the skies can be any color you want them to be. You'd better be able to control the weather, for the kind of money you have to pony up for this place.

In France, meanwhile, some enterprising soul has mapped out how many kisses on the cheek one can safely expect from acquaintances. This fits in well with my experience, for what it's worth; when I lived in Tours, the usual amount was three, four if the kisser was feeling particularly affectionate. (We lived with somewhat reserved people, though.)

If you haven't finished holiday shoppping yet, you could at least send out some interfaith pet cards. Cats with yarmulkes cheer up anyone. I would recommend you go out and buy a mug with a convenient storage shelf for cookies, too, but 1) they're sold out and 2) user reviews say that they really aren't all that convenient after all. Pah.

In the interim, ponder the art of LEGO logic gates. And check out the Rubik's Cubes in LEGO format, too!

Ah. Happiness is getting back to full health and having a backlog of links to share!

Visual fun:

* you can make your own crossword puzzle online now. I used to make crosswords for Zazoo when I was bored in high school. (I was REALLY bored in high school sometimes.)

* it's time for the Diagram Award for Oddest Title of the Year! Check out the nominees!

* 10X10 gives you a real-time overview of what's happening in the world right this very moment.

* If you've ever lost a photo of yourself in the UK, you may want to see if you're unknowingly a participant of Is This You?

Audio fun:

* Kiddie Records will bring you a dose of nostalgia every week in 2005!

* if you, like many of us, are disgusted by the RIAA and MPAA, why not send them a lump of coal this season? It's easy!

* the MASSIVE database brings you every song mentioning math and/or science. I haven't checked yet, but I expect They Might Be Giants to be well represented.

* the Son-o-House combines architecture and sound. Wild.

* the RGB Player combines colors with sound. Also very wild. (Go to this site and click on "RGB Player" - I can't link to it directly.)

And finally, check out Modest Needs and think about an alternative to materialism this season. It's very cool.
