This weekend: come join the festivities of Pride Weekend in Cincinnati. A Klaus Nomi tribute tonight at Jacobs! A parade through Clifton and Northside! Be there (and bring ice water, and maybe an umbrella)!

Links from Others has mysteriously morphed into Links from Daniel for this week. (Thanks, Daniel!)

Other fun links:

And finally, courtesy of Satori: Rocketboom, the best three minutes you'll spend on the net today. (Meet Cleaver Theatre has gotten inspired by this site. Watch the skies for an announcement in the near future.)

Have a spiffy weekend, everyone. See you Monday.

Image of the Day

I got all enthused with Flickr and forgot the Image of the Day. Anyway, this is what I made for my newly-ordained cousin Jeff. Bunny soldered the edges and kept me from going absolutely bonkers during the last-minute preparations. (I now fully understand the concept of making something and then letting it go into the wild, satisfied to never see it again.)

Whoa, I never saw this store of librarian swag before! I am torn between the "hot librarian" coffee mug and the t-shirt which asks "where is the library?" in all different languages. (Bunny would prefer the shirt which says "it's library, not liberry," I bet.) This is right up there with the Curmudgeon store!

More library fun: anonymous library cards help you check out subversive books without fear of Republican reprisal. If your library doesn't offer them, you can try substituting gummi bears for your finger in scanners, it seems.

Still more bookish fun: Google Print hawks its wares at the Book Expo, an academic revels in the joy of stacks, and Hollywood Librarian is now in production. Woo!

Collect Britain is an archivist's dream. The accents and dialects section is especially cool.

Tomorrow: links from others!

If I lived in the UK, I think I would be less worried about the Hound of the Baskervilles and more concerned about the Beast of Bexley. It has sharp pointy teeth and might eat you. (I can't really figure out why no one can find these cats for sure and certain, though. Britain really isn't all that big, is it?)

Battlestar Galactica: is it Mormon manifesto, Roman recap, or Jewish journey? (Bunny insists that it is the tale of the Jewish people's exile into Egypt. The article doesn't go into this angle, but I think it's a valid theory.)

More sci-fi fun: want to know how a lightsaber works? Of course you do! (Best quote: "Lightsaber locks are required in most states.")

When exploring abandoned railways, it may be a good idea to bring along a ghost detector, just in case. Or maybe some weapons to combat the Beast of Bexley.

What does the Great Seal really mean? It means that the nation is a Mason-run conspiracy!

And lastly but not leastly, a handy guide for all cynical travelers helps the sarcastic trot the globe.

Okay. First off, it's Daniel Boone Day in Kentucky. Seriously!

Since my trip mainly consisted of taking pictures, today's links are very photo-oriented. There's a Flickr group dedicated to the Art of the Road (check out the atomic image!), for instance. Also, senseless acts of beauty are immortalized at the Good Graffiti site - there's even a Dalek in graffiti there. If you'd rather immortalize people, how about some sci-fi stencil action? You just know that a Lovecraft stencil would look perfect near some murky waters.

Also from the road: Secret Wall Tattoos is a group that takes hotel art and replaces it with their own. This is brilliant.

Random fun items: wearing red helps you win (but probably doesn't help if you're speeding in a red car), and hey! Emergency! is coming out on DVD! Yay!

Hi! I am back, but catching up. In the meantime, you can check out my version of the weekend via Flickr. There are other random photos of spookylibrarian life there as well!
